Stained Glass Glazier/Conservator - Lincoln Cathedral

Due to an increased general workload and a forthcoming medieval conservation project Lincoln Cathedral Works Department wish to appoint an additional stained glass glazier / conservator skilled in working on historical and architectural stained glass. The Glazing   Department is a small team dedicated to the care and maintenance of the large collection of stained glass and leaded windows of Lincoln Cathedral and the plain glazed windows of the Close Houses.

We are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate a high and diverse level of professionalism in the practical craft and who has an understanding of current stained glass conservation/preservation practices.  A relevant recognised qualification or equivalent proven ability is essential. This post requires good organisational skills and you will be expected to work with minimum supervision to complete projects. The ability to produce restoration glass painting to a high standard would be preferred.

Worshipful Company of Glaziers Awards

Professional Development Awards

This award offers financial support (tuition + subsistence) to professional glass workers who have been working in the craft full time for at least five years, to improve a skill or learn and practise a new one, under the supervision of a senior practitioner. This may be through a specified short course or through a suitable short workshop placement.

Conservation Accreditation Awards
Four Accreditation Awards are being offered annually from 2011. These will be grants of £300 towards the cost of attaining ICON (Institute of Conservation) PACR (Professional Accreditation as Conservator/Restorer) status.
