Float glass and mirror, painted and sandblasted. Making such a small area have enough interest and punch from near and far, front and back in the Cochrane. The strips of mirror behind the panel are to bounce light in and to reflect light and other angles back. The colour was to create a warm jewel within the back frame. My work sandblasting and painting glass takes the 2D into 3D, not only with the layering but with the effect of optical illusion, when seen from different angles. Chinks of light break through the hand cut image on the glass creating a kind of kinetic interference pattern that brings the pieces to life.
